Two killed, 11 wounded in weekend shootings

Two men were killed and at least 11 other people were wounded in shootings across the city since Friday night.

The two men were fatally shot inside a parked vehicle early Saturday in the Pilsen neighborhood.

About 1:30 a.m., Johnathan Ramirez, 18, and Santos Bueno, 22, were sitting in the vehicle in the 1000 block of West 18th Street when someone walked up and fired shots, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Both men suffered multiple gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Bueno lived in the 7900 block of South Kilpatrick, according to the medical examiner’s office. Ramirez’s home address was unknown as of Saturday afternoon.

A police source said the shooting may have been gang-related.

The most recent nonfatal shooting happened early Sunday in the South Side Woodlawn neighborhood.

A 44-year-old man was standing outside in the 6600 block of South Rhodes a few minutes before 1 a.m. when he “heard shots and felt pain,” police said.

The man was shot in the eye and taken in serious condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

At least ten other people have been injured in shootings across the city since 9:45 p.m. Friday.
