Letter: Why not a national right to carry law?

There is a push underway to legalize marijuana in all 50 states. The argument is that it's done with driver’s licenses and registrations.
Recently, during health insurance debates, the arguments of going across state lines to purchase plans seemed valid. So does the legalization of pot sound right? And is the revenue from sales going to state coffers being considered? Of course.
So why not use the same argument regarding the right to carry concealed weapons? If I can drive in Oklahoma with a Connecticut license, and I have a state-issued permit to carry, why not honor that in other states? I will have passed all the requirements as I did for a driver’s license that other states have in their permitting process, so why the objection to carrying a concealed weapon?
The revenue would be there for a national right to carry law. The permitting process is valid, making me a responsible person. Oh, now I get it. The stumbling block is the word “guns.”It evokes knee-jerk reactions from politicians who want to make points with anti-gun people.
Come on, Mr. Obama. Get on the phone and get out the pen.
